Trauma Therapy & EMDR
Struggling to find a way to move on from difficult past experiences or recurring symptoms ?
EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy) is a powerful, evidence-based approach that is used worldwide to work with trauma and other mental health conditions.
EMDR targets intrusive beliefs, traumatic memories, flashbacks, distressing body sensations and other products of trauma which can otherwise become ‘trapped’ within our nervous system.
EMDR equips you with the skills you need to calm your nervous system down, and then helps the brain to reprocess and store trauma information in a less intrusive and distressing way through the targeted use of side to side eye movements. This reduces the emotional charge attached to past experiences, and encourages your brain to build new, helpful connections.
EMDR can help you to generate a healthier perspective on a past event and your role within this.
Many clients find that EMDR therapy can lead to profound and lasting change in how they experience their inner world.
Research has shown that EMDR can be effective in treating a number of conditions including depression, panic, phobias and OCD.
Facing past distress takes courage and my job is to guide you through this process, empowering you with the skills and support to move through this process and be able to thrive beyond trauma.
I am an accredited member of EMDR UK which means I continue to meet the high practitioner standards required by EMDR UK.
