About Therapy

It is important to choose the right service for you.

I work with adults (UK only), offering individual therapy either online or face to face in a modern therapy space in a convenient location near the historic market town of Corsham, Wiltshire.

Beginning therapy can take courage. My aim is to ensure that it is a safe, supportive and rewarding experience for you.

Some of the problems I can help with:

  • Persistent anxious or negative thoughts and feelings that intrude on your everyday life.

  • Negative self beliefs and low mood.

  • Repetitive fears (past or present related) that are dominating your everyday life.

  • A sense of overwhelm or shutdown that is affecting your home or work life.

If you are uncertain if I am the right service for you, get in touch and we can discuss this further.

My Approach to Therapy

Therapy that fits with you.

I take an integrated approach to therapy, drawing on elements from a number of therapy models according to your needs.

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy, Ego State Therapy and Eye Movement and Desensitisation Therapy (EMDR) in my work.

I do accept insurance-funded clients, but it is worth contacting me to check I work with your specific insurer.

Bybrook Psychology is not suitable for:

  • Individuals under 18 years of age.

  • Medico-legal cases or those requiring legal assessment, court report or expert witness input.

  • Those who are looking for specialist neurodiversity diagnosis or assessment. Please contact your GP in the first instance, or search for specialist ADHD or ASD support services.

  • Those requiring group work, family therapy, or couples therapy.

  • Individuals seeking specialist drug, alcohol or other addiction support services.

  • Those with mental health needs which are more complex or specialist than I feel I can effectively and safely support outside of NHS services. I am also unable to offer therapy to individuals referred by friends or family, without the individuals consent or engagement in therapy.

    Please note:

    1. Bybrook Psychology is not an emergency service and is unable to offer intensive support for those in immediate crisis who are at risk of harming themselves or others. Please contact your GP or NHS 111 for signposting to the correct services.

    2. Therapy is a two-way process and referrals are reviewed on a case by case basis. I am not obliged to take on potential clients where I feel I am not the right clinician for you, or am unable to meet your specific needs at this time.

About Online Therapy

Online therapy is a highly effective and flexible way to access therapy.

Therapy can be offered through a video conferencing platform, which allows you to access therapy from your home or workplace without significant disruption to your day. The use of technology can also bring extra elements into our therapy, including creating shared written materials, introducing you to helpful online tools and resources and allowing us to incorporate your daily environment into the session.

What Do You Need For Online Therapy ?

For online therapy to work you need:

  • Access to a laptop, phone or tablet which will allow you to use Zoom video conferencing. (I can help you set this up if it is new to you).

  • Somewhere quiet and private where you can have your therapy sessions (headphones are recommended to help with privacy).

  • A reliable internet connection which supports online video calls.

Next Steps:

I would love to hear from you and find out how I can help. The first step is to get in touch.

  • Where useful, I can offer a free 15 minute, no-obligation telephone consultation to get a little more detail about what you are looking for. This also gives you a chance to see if you would feel comfortable working with me.

  • If we agree to go ahead, the therapy journey starts with an extended, online assessment appointment (90 minutes). This gives us chance to learn about you, your challenges and your therapy goals. We can work out the help that you need and agree on the next treatment steps.

  • Ongoing therapy sessions are then 55 minutes long. Therapy sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

I appreciated therapy can be a significant investment. It is important that you feel informed and comfortable. There is no up front commitment to a block of sessions. Therapy can be paused and we will continue to check you are finding the sessions helpful and want to move forward throughout the process.
